Resplendent Quetzal Female Closer, Costa Rica
At one point the male flew off and shortly after this happened the female came in closer to me, perhaps checking me out as I was checking her out. I love the soft greens that are on her breast and the scalloped tails feather of black and white. her head and back are a soft brown in order to blend in to her surroundings as she is sitting on a nest protecting her young ones from potential predators. I would argue that the female is just as colorful as the male, but in more subdued colors.
